The
success of our activity was made possible because of the methods that we were
able to apply for the whole outcome.
First,
our professor, Mrs. Ava Claire Robles told us about Project-based Learning in our EdSci126 class
during Tuesdays and Fridays at 2:30-4:00 pm at the H building of MSU-GSC. She
introduced to us the online environment of Project-based learning by giving us
the links to her blog site and exploring it at our own expense. We were put in
groups of 4-5 members and we were tasked
to come up a project that will benefit the community especially the
environment. We did a brainstorming of ideas where the team work played a good
role. At the end of that period, we decided to do a clean-up drive at Barangay Fatima, Uhaw. One of our group
mates lives there so we thought it was much easier to communicate with the
Barangay officials through her.
We
made a letter signed by our professor for formality of the said clean-up drive.
We talked about the details of the clean-up drive during our free time before
we did the whole thing. We decided to do the clean-up drive on the 13th
of March at 1pm. We met up at the MSU-GSC gym and went to the Barangay Hall at
the same time.
When we
arrived, we immediately went inside the office and talked to the secretary of
the Barangay Captain. We showed our letter and he interviewed us for a couple
of minutes. The communication went well and then he introduced us to Mr. Dodong
Dupa, the OIC.
Mr.
Dodong then brought us to the place that
we were going to do the clean-up drive. He advised us to segregate the wastes
before putting it inside the garbage sack.
After cleaning, we said our goodbyes and headed out of the Barangay Hall with smile on our faces because deep within us, we knew we made a difference!
